Going for ConsultHey Guys,
Im a 23 year old guy, and i 1.5 years ago i lost 10stone and went from 19.5stone and now down to a 9.5stone and it has unfortunately left me with a small stomach "pouch" of loose skin. Heres a picture i took: ![]() I have booked a consult with Mr James McJDiarmid, at the Mount Stuart hospital in torquay on the 7th August, and im very anxious and excited about it all lol. I was wondering as you can see from my photo my belly button is already very very low, and has almost a "hood" so has anyone else had this sort of thing and at your consult what did the surgeon recommend? did you have a new belly button cut or something? Also anyone have any experience with Mount Stuart in Torquay? I know ill find out in 2 weeks but im trying to find out as much information as possible :). This website has been such a help with all the information. Im going to try and keep a video blog of my journey and also a written one :). Thanks guys and girls. Matthew
Re: Going for ConsultHi Matthew welcome to LYB
. Congratulations on your weight loss, thats some achievement. What may happen is that the surgeon cuts around the belly button leaving a stalk , pulls the excess skin down and then sews the stalk into the new skin that has been pulled down from above( through an insicion ) not sure if i have explained that properly. Basically you end up with a newly fashioned belly button. Please feel free to ask any questions and we will do our best to answer them. Jane x [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/]

Re: Going for ConsultCan I just say well done on your successful weight loss. I think you look absolutley fantastic as you are. Im on day 3 po and its no walk in the park. Think long and hard before you commit to this. If you do decide to go ahead, stick around here. I used to come on here all the time before I joined and had lots of questions answered by old message boards. Good luck.

Re: Going for ConsultHi Nikki,
Thanks for the kind words, its mainly for when i sit down etc it really bothers me and have tried living with it for 2 years but still its a reminder of the old me and would feel alot better with it gone :). How are you feeling with it all? sorry i take 3 PO means 3 days after the operation? Thanks Matthew
Re: Going for ConsultHi Matthew
I think the belly button will be sorted no problem. considering the weight you have lost wow you dont have too much extra skin which is really good. I understand you want the bit you have gone so hope you have a good consultation. (Ive lost 7 1/2 stone myself so know how hard it is ![]()
Re: Going for ConsultThanks for the replies.
I was wondering i do alot of Road Cylcing Racing etc, how quickly do you think after the operation i would be able to start working out even if very slowly on the stationary bike? I know everyone is different but a rough idea would be great. Thanks
Re: Going for ConsultHi Mathew, re your exercise question, everybody IS different, but if youre in decent shape before you will probably be quicker to mend and get back on the bike, haha. I did read of one woman who was back doing gentle jogs after 2 weeks.
As for my recovery im now 10 days PO, its been difficult (I caught an infection), but I started to feel a bit better a couple of days ago, and have improved daily. I wasnt a prime candidate in the first place (I have MS and chronic anaemia) so I think to be as healthy and fit as you can be would be a great advantage. Good luck and keep us posted. Nikki x
Re: Going for ConsultI can't help you out man, but I have to tell you, you did great losing all that weight!
Re: Going for ConsultHI, you did fantastic losing all that weight!
I am two weeks and one day post op today. I feel great, but tummy is still swollen and stiff. I just started to take the dog out again yesterday (he's also had an op on his paw so he's been at home all the time I've been unable to get out). I took it steady and did our normal 2-3 miles. I did it again today and it was OK still. (I wore my corset which does give support). I am a bit of a gym bunny and am anxious to get back but find sideways movement a bit sore still. I think I would be able to try a gentle cycle now, as long as there was no sideways movement. My aim is to try to get back to the gym next week for a slow walk on the treadmill!! Everybody is different, but I think being as fit as you can before this op (I was 3 hours under anaesthatic) will definitely help you recover. People here give great advice and someone here said listen to your body and try to find a time each day to rest, both have been great pieces of advice. Anne x
Re: Going for ConsultThis is it, today is the day :D going for a consult at 3:30pm today :D
Re: Going for ConsultHope it goes well, let us know how you get on! :]
Re: Going for ConsultHi ya Guys,
Well consult all went well James was happy with how things looked and was actually very impressed with how tight my skin was already after losing 10stone. We went through things etc and seems it should be a maximum of a 2 night stay at Mount Stewart Torquay, and then waring garments/tape etc etc. Then today I received my letter from his clinic informing me the cost will be 5k, so i have now booked this up for October 15th :), 3 days before my 24th Bday and 2 Days after i get back from egypt!! lol. I am already bricking it though lol, heart going 10 to the dozen just on the phone lol.
Re: Going for ConsultOh sorry forgot to say i will be having a full tummy tuck as well, not a mini and my belly button will be shortened and lifted. I will not need a vertical cut through all being well.
Re: Going for ConsultSounds good hun , bet your excited.

Re: Going for ConsultOh you will get a great result as your have lost the weight. Good news about not having to have vertical as they are the hardest scars to deal with if you know what I mean.
I had mine just yesterday and I was bricking all last week swining from should I just have lipo to what am I putting myself through but I knew that after 3 very big babies and only being 5ft it wouldn;t help my muscles which is the main reason for having it done. Keep us posted on your progress.
